When Colonel Austin O. Davis assumed command of the 32nd Fighter Interceptor Squad (FIS) at camp New Amsterdam he was a command pilot with 5,400 hours of flying time in a wide variety of aircraft. When he was assigned to take this command he had been director of operations at Duluth International Airport in Minnesota.

The following photos  depict a formal review and parade featuring the USAFE band and will highlight Change of Command ceremonies that took place as Colonel Daniel C. Perry turned over command of the 32nd FIS over to Colonel Austin Davis.

Brigadier General Richard N. Ellis, commander of 86th Air Division, officiated the ceremonies at Camp New Amsterdam (CNA). There was a show of force flyover of 12 F-102s from the 32nd FIS to bid farewell to Colonel Perry and welcome Colonel Davis.  Among the many dignitaries that attended were the Honorable William R. Tyler, U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands; Mr. Seaborn P. Foster, U.S. Consul General from Rotterdam; Col. A. J. Marinus, commander of Soesterberg Air Bas; Baron and Baroness Van Nagell of Doorn; and the mayor of Zeist, Mr. Stolk. Colonel Perry was assigned deputy commander for test evaluation at the Air Defense Weapons Center (ADC) in Tyndall AFB, Florida.
